view more12/10/2013· One very common installation or system situation causes restricted air flow. They occur because, prior to the installation or prior to some operational change, the proper rate of flow wasn't identified for the dust collector cleaning action. Feed line sizing, regulator sizing, and air supply all require an identified rate of flow.

view moreDO use the largest ductwork that fits your collector. Just because a tool comes with a 4" dust port doesn't mean you should use 4" main ducts or drops. Instead, look at the intake port sizes for the collectors you're considering. Most cyclones have intake ports of 6" to 8", and some two-bag collectors have 5"- or 6"-diameter intakes, so consider at least a 5" main duct. Tapered reducers, like ...

In a process system, an improperly sized dust collector can restrict or limit production rates. When the correct dust collector size is chosen, it will operate at peak efficiency, improving safety, compliance and overall productivity.
view moreThe Importance of Sizing Ductwork for Dust . The dust collector is the main ingredient in getting cleaner air for your shop, but if you can't get the dirty air into the collector efficiently, you risk high energy usage, degraded collector performance, and unsafe conditions in the plant.
